Data Storage & Retention

  • Video data: Extracted video metadata is cached temporarily (up to 1 hour) to improve performance and is automatically deleted.
  • We do not store: Downloaded videos, personal information, or any user accounts.

Third-Party Services

We may use the following third-party services:

  • Vercel: For hosting and serving our website
  • Cloudflare: Delivers most downloads (videos, audio and profile pictures) from its network, so it sees the request for the file, including your IP address, like any web server
  • Upstash: For rate limiting and caching (Redis)
  • Analytics: We may use privacy-respecting analytics tools to understand usage patterns
  • Google Analytics: To understand how the site is used (pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser). It sets its own cookies to recognise returning visitors, except for visitors in the EU, UK and Switzerland, where it runs without cookies. Google processes this data under its privacy policy; you can opt out with Google's opt-out add-on.
  • Adsterra (advertising): After you look up a video, the page shows one ad, supplied by the Adsterra ad network (AD MARKET LIMITED). The ad is shown in its own frame, set up so that it can't redirect the page you're on. Adsterra and its advertisers may receive your IP address, browser and device details and the page you're on, and may use cookies or similar technologies to show, limit and measure ads. This happens under Adsterra's privacy policy and cookie policy. We only count how often the ad is shown, without knowing who you are.
  • YouTube: Our videos (the how-to video and the browser extension's video) load from YouTube, in its privacy-enhanced mode, only when you press play. YouTube may then set its own cookies under Google's privacy policy.

Browser Extension

The GetTikVideo extension for Chrome and Edge can't see which sites you visit: the browser itself lights up its icon when a TikTok page is open. When you click the icon, the extension reads that one page to list the TikTok videos, photos and profiles on it. Choosing one opens gettikvideo.com with that link filled in, and the rest of this policy applies from there. The extension sends nothing anywhere on its own, keeps no history and has no analytics of its own.

In Chrome and Edge, gettikvideo.com asks the extension whether it's installed, so that we don't suggest it to people who already have it. Only gettikvideo.com can ask, and the extension answers with nothing but yes and its version number. We don't store the answer; we only count how often the site suggests the extension and how often that's clicked, without knowing who you are.

Cookies

We don't set advertising cookies ourselves, but the ad shown after a lookup comes from Adsterra, which may set its own cookies (see Third-Party Services above); you can block or delete them in your browser's settings. Google Analytics sets cookies to count visits (not for visitors in the EU, UK and Switzerland). Essential cookies and browser storage may be used for basic site functionality, such as remembering that you closed a message.

Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
