How to Download TikTok Videos (2026 Guide)
Published March 13, 2026
TikTok makes it weirdly hard to save videos. The app buries the save option, some creators disable it entirely, and even when it works you get a watermarked version. Here are the methods people actually use in 2026.
Method 1: Using GetTikVideo (Recommended)
GetTikVideo.com lets you download any TikTok video from your browser. No app to install, no account to create.
- Open TikTok, find the video, tap the Share button (arrow icon), then tap "Copy Link."
- Go to gettikvideo.com and paste the link in the input field.
- Hit Download. Pick HD (no watermark), SD, or MP3 if you only want the audio.
That's it. The file saves straight to your device. Works in any browser on any platform.
Method 2: TikTok's Built-in Save
TikTok does have a "Save video" button, but there are catches:
- The saved video always has the TikTok watermark and the creator's @username on it.
- Creators can turn off downloads, so the button might not be there at all.
- You need the TikTok app installed.
If you're fine with the watermark: open the video, tap Share, tap "Save video." Done.
Method 3: Screen Recording (Last Resort)
Your phone has a built-in screen recorder. You can technically use it to capture any TikTok video, but the quality is noticeably worse. You'll also record anything else on screen: comments, the progress bar, notifications. It's a backup option, not a good one.
Device-Specific Notes
iPhone
Safari on iPhone handles downloads a little differently. After tapping Download on GetTikVideo, look for the small download arrow in Safari's toolbar (top right). The video lands in your Files app. From there, tap Share → "Save Video" to put it in your camera roll.
Android
Android is more straightforward. The file goes right into your Downloads folder. Chrome, Firefox, Brave — they all work.
PC or Mac
Open gettikvideo.com in any desktop browser, paste the link, click Download. It goes to your default downloads folder.
Tips
- Use the share link from the app, not the URL from a browser. The share link (starts with vm.tiktok.com) is more reliable.
- Private videos can't be downloaded by anyone. If the link doesn't work, the video might be set to friends-only.
- HD not loading? Try SD instead. Some older videos only have lower quality available.
Common Questions
Does this cost anything?
No. GetTikVideo is free and doesn't require an account.
What about the watermark?
GetTikVideo gives you the original video file before TikTok adds its logo. See thewatermark-free downloader for details.
Is this legal?
Downloading public videos for personal use is generally fine. Just don't repost someone else's content as your own.
